Government Official States Ministry of Defence Examining Potential Threat from Chinese Cars, with Staff Told to Avoid Confidential Discussions in Cars.

An defence official has revealed that the MoD is currently looking into the potential threats associated with Chinese cars, and personnel have been instructed to refrain from talking about secret matters in all vehicles.

Safety Advice for Defence Staff

During a recent appearance on a radio station, a defence minister commented on claims that Ministry of Defence staff have been told not to talk about secret material while travelling in China-made vehicles.

The minister said that the ministry is “examining” cars from China within its vehicle pools, but emphasised that safety is a issue in all contemporary vehicles.

We have a fleet of tens of thousands of cars in the Ministry of Defence and Chinese ones account for a tiny fraction.
However regardless of if you’re driving a vehicle from China or a car from another country, what we’ve asked our people is to avoid connecting MoD technology into their car, to avoid having discussions at a classified level in any kind of vehicle, due to the growing risks of surveillance that are present in all vehicle, to restrict those confidential talks in protected areas. This is a wise and sensible thing for anyone concerned about safety.

After it was suggested that it would be prudent for the ministry to cease using every Chinese vehicles, Pollard replied: That is exactly what we’re investigating at the moment.”

Wider Defence Background

This announcement comes as reports from Scandinavian countries have alerted the UK to the presence of multi-purpose kill switches in Chinese-made electric buses, which could enable China to disable public transport and cause chaos to transport systems.

Furthermore, a Russia spy ship has been shining laser beams at RAF aircrew, labeled a “highly dangerous” act by defence officials.

The broader security environment underscores the significance of strong protocols and caution in all areas of government activities, from transport usage to communication practices.
